Battle of the Bars

This was an epic fundraising event for Team Adam and Steve, who are preparing to ride 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles this summer for their AIDS Lifecycle ride.

Friendly Competition

Battle of the Bars is a friendly competition amongst neighboring bars in Old Town Orcutt for the most funds raised in an evening for the bicycle team to don their jersey designed with their business logo as they ride through town on their way to Los Angeles. Both bars competing created a festive evening with specialty cocktails and other treats to imbibe their guests to raise the most funds. In this year’s fundraising efforts, Naughty Oak Brew returns to defend their crown (jersey) against Lark + Sparrow, a newer wine bar in town.

Episode #49

Listen to Provisions & Libations, Episode #49 to hear first hand from the participants of the event and Aids LifeCycle ride. Crystal and I spent time at both bars during the evening speaking to guests, and hosts. Johna from Lark + Sparrow talks about how they created their drink, “The Blood Orange Sakatani.” Emily from Naughty Oak talks about their creative drink, “Taste the Rainbow” using gummy bears and edible glitter for the most color. Adam, Steve and Jeromy all talk about the ride, the fundraising, and how the event evolved from last year to this year.

The Winning Jersey Goes To

Congratulations, Lark + Sparrow!!

Their galant fundraising efforts took the crown (or the jersey) this year for raising the most funds during the Battle of the Bars event. Their jersey donning their business name will ride through Santa Maria on Day #5 of the ride for all hometown friends and family to see. Cheers to Naughty Oak Brewery for participating.
