Alongside William James Cellars, a boutique winery, was a second label, a spin-off, Billy Jimmy. Billy Jimmy was known as the rebel son of William James and donned a checkered flag with flames to show a wild and raucous side in contrast to the cream linen and gold monogram of WJ.
Wine Club Members from 2003 to 2016 were treated to a special recipe booklet with each new wine release included with each wine club shipment. The booklets offered recipes for all types of food and menu themes, including holiday meal ideas, Louisiana-style cooking, Taco Frenzy, Valentine’s Love Potion #9, Irish Style, Wine Inspired, Family Style, and Kentucky Derby Fare to whet the appetite of wine club members and keep them entertained at the same time.
Recipes were prepared and tested for compatibility, balance, acidity, and aromatic nuances. Robin tasted each wine pairing with the menu item to ensure a perfect match. Sometimes Robin believed a specific wine was the perfect match with a specific menu item, but when taste tested, it didn’t always match well, so adjustments were made to ensure the right wine was chosen.
